Venice Summer Institute 2022: The Organization and the Geography of Work in the Post-Pandemic Economy

29 – 30 June 2022

San Servolo, Venice, Italy
Venice Summer Institute 2020

Scientific Organizers: Professor Prithwiraj (Raj) Choudhury and Professor Oliver Falck

The Covid-19 shock has rattled the world economy, disrupting traditional work arrangement at an unprecedented scale. This workshop asks to what extent work is persistently reorganized in the post-pandemic economy and explores the consequences of these adjustments. Will remote, hybrid and work-from-anywhere arrangements become an integral part of firms and industries globally? Does the post-pandemic economy perform better or worse with respect to productivity, job satisfaction, regional, gender and social inequality? Will work-from-anywhere change the geography of work, and alter migration and return migration flows and the global distribution of talent? We look forward to bringing together theoretical and empirical contributions on these timely questions.

Keynote speakers:

Prithwiraj (Raj) Choudhury, Harvard Business School
Abigail Adams-Prassl, University of Oxford

The conference will close with a virtual discussion with Richard Florida (Rotman School of Management) on the topic of Global Trends and Shifts in the Global Economy in a Post-Pandemic World.
