Public Economics

The Public Economics area, organized by Claus Thustrup Kreiner (Center for Economic Behavior and Inequality (CEBI) at the University of Copenhagen), fosters scientific progress in public economics and provides theoretical and empirical analyses of key challenges facing modern societies. Will inequality continue to rise, and what is the trade-off between inequality and economic efficiency facing policy makers? What is the best design of social insurance and social security policy in a world with increasing migration and ageing populations? To what extent are national tax systems challenged by international tax competition, offshore tax evasion and the increased use of intangible capital in production. How can this be addressed nationally and internationally?
