Among the most prestigious awards in economics, the Distinguished CES Fellow award is a hidden gem: a significant proportion of the awardees - 5 out of 29 - have gone on to win the Nobel Prize in their discipline just a few years later.  Just short of completing three decades of its annual award, the Center for Economic Studies (CES) is elevating another internationally outstanding economist, Prof. Claudia Goldin, Ph.D. to its Distinguished Fellow pantheon.

Prof. Goldin delivered her lecture Career & Family - Women's Century-Long Journey Toward Equity as an online event on Tuesday 15 November 2022.

Claudia Goldin is the Henry Lee Professor of Economics at Harvard University and was the director of the NBER's Development of the American Economy program from 1989 to 2017.  She is a co-director the NBER's Gender in the Economy Study Group. An economic historian and a labor economist, her research covers a wide range of topics, including the female labor force, the gender gap in earnings, income inequality, technological change, education, and immigration. Most of her research interprets the present through the lens of the past and explores the origins of current issues of concern.
